Job Description

Welcome to Camp Floyd State Park & Museum, a unique and historical site located in the beautiful state of Utah. We are currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Curator to join our team and help preserve and share the rich history of this important location. As a Curator, you will have the opportunity to showcase your expertise and love for history, while engaging with visitors and creating meaningful experiences for all who walk through our doors. We are looking for someone with a strong educational background in history or a related field, as well as experience in collections management and exhibition curation.   1. Develop and maintain exhibits that accurately reflect the history and significance of Camp Floyd State Park & Museum.
  2. Research and gather information about the site and its history, including artifacts and documents, to ensure accurate and informative exhibits.
  3. Collaborate with other team members to create engaging and educational programs and events for visitors of all ages.
  4. Manage the museum's collections, including cataloging, preservation, and storage of artifacts and documents.
  5. Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of exhibits and collections to ensure they are in line with the museum's mission and goals.
  6. Engage with visitors and provide informative and engaging tours, presentations, and programs.
  7. Foster relationships with local historical societies, schools, and other community organizations to promote the museum and its programs.
  8. Stay up-to-date with current trends and best practices in museum curation and implement changes as needed.
  9. Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the museum and its programs through various channels, including social media, print materials, and events.
  10. Train and supervise volunteers and interns to assist with various museum tasks, such as exhibit setup and maintenance.
  11. Maintain accurate records and budgets for all museum activities and expenses.
  12. Ensure the museum is following all relevant laws and regulations, including those related to the preservation and handling of artifacts and documents.
  13. Contribute to grant writing and fundraising efforts to support the museum's mission and goals.
  14. Continuously seek opportunities to improve the visitor experience and promote the museum's mission and goals.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In History, Museum Studies, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Museum Or Cultural Institution, With A Focus On Curation.

  • Demonstrated Knowledge And Experience In Collection Management, Preservation, And Conservation Techniques.

  • Strong Research And Writing Skills, With The Ability To Develop And Present Engaging Exhibits And Educational Programs.

  • Familiarity With Budget Management And Grant Writing For Museum Projects.
