- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the sustainable use and conservation of Utah's water resources.
- Collaborate with experienced attorneys and government officials to analyze and address legal issues related to water management and protection.
- Conduct legal research and provide legal opinions on matters related to water law and regulations.
- Represent the state of Utah in legal proceedings and negotiations related to water resources.
- Advise state agencies and officials on compliance with state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to water resources.
- Monitor and track legislative and regulatory developments related to water law and provide recommendations for potential impact on the state's water resources.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including local governments, industry groups, and environmental organizations, to develop and implement comprehensive water management plans.
- Identify potential areas of conflict and work to resolve disputes related to water resources.
- Participate in outreach and education efforts to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting Utah's water resources.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation related to water law and regulations.
- Stay informed on best practices and emerging trends in water management and apply them to the state of Utah's policies and procedures.
- Train and mentor junior attorneys and legal staff on matters related to water law and regulations.
- Represent the state of Utah at conferences, seminars, and other events related to water resources.
- Collaborate with other state and federal agencies to develop and implement statewide water resource management strategies.
- Conduct regular reviews and evaluations of existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Work with legislators and other government officials to draft and review legislation related to water resources.
- Provide regular updates and reports to superiors and other stakeholders on the state's water resource management efforts.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions and activities related to the job.
Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School With A Strong Academic Record.
Active Membership In The Utah State Bar And In Good Standing.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience Practicing Law In The Area Of Water Resources, Including Knowledge Of Relevant Federal And State Laws And Regulations.
Excellent Written And Oral Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Present Legal Arguments And Communicate Complex Information.
Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Abilities, With The Ability To Research And Interpret Legal Issues Related To Water Resources And Provide Sound Legal Advice.
