Welcome to the exciting world of aquatic biology! We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Aquatic Biologist (Wildlife Biologist II) at the State of Utah. As an Aquatic Biologist, you will have the unique opportunity to work with a variety of aquatic species in their natural habitats, collecting data and conducting research to help protect and conserve our state's diverse aquatic ecosystems.   1. Conduct field research and data collection on various aquatic species and their habitats.
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of conservation and management plans for aquatic ecosystems.
  3. Analyze and interpret collected data using various statistical methods.
  4. Prepare reports and presentations summarizing research findings and recommendations.
  5. Collaborate with other team members and external partners to ensure effective and efficient research and conservation efforts.
  6. Stay up-to-date with current scientific literature and advancements in the field of aquatic biology.
  7. Identify and monitor threats to aquatic species and ecosystems, and propose strategies for mitigation.
  8. Use various sampling and survey techniques to assess population dynamics and health of aquatic species.
  9. Conduct outreach and education programs to promote awareness and conservation of aquatic resources.
  10. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while conducting field work.
  11. Maintain accurate and organized data records and ensure data integrity.
  12. Assist in securing funding for research and conservation projects.
  13. Work closely with state and federal agencies on permitting and regulatory compliance.
  14. Train and supervise interns and volunteers.
  15. Represent the organization at conferences, workshops, and other professional events.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Biology, Ecology, Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Conducting Field Research In Aquatic Environments

  • Knowledge Of Local And Federal Regulations Related To Aquatic Species And Habitats

  • Ability To Design And Implement Research Studies, Including Data Collection And Analysis

  • Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills To Effectively Present Findings And Recommendations To Stakeholders And The Public.
