We are currently seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to join our dynamic team and help us effectively communicate with our diverse audience. As a Senior Communications Specialist, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing communication strategies that promote our programs, initiatives and services. We are looking for a driven and experienced individual who is passionate about public service and possesses excellent communication skills.   1. Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that effectively promote the State of Texas' programs, initiatives, and services.
  2. Create and distribute impactful and engaging communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, social media posts, and website content.
  3. Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and proactively build relationships with local and national media outlets.
  4. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent and accurate messaging across all communication channels.
  5. Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify key demographics and develop targeted communication plans.
  6. Monitor and track the effectiveness of communication campaigns and make recommendations for improvement.
  7. Train and advise staff members on effective communication techniques and strategies.
  8. Manage crisis communication situations, including drafting statements and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in communication to continuously improve the State of Texas' communication efforts.
  10. Represent the State of Texas at events and meetings to promote our programs and initiatives.
  11. Work closely with community leaders and stakeholders to build positive relationships and promote collaboration.
  12. Serve as a brand ambassador for the State of Texas and maintain a positive image in all communication efforts.
  13. Mentor and supervise junior communications staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Communications, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.

  • Strong Writing, Editing, And Proofreading Skills With A Thorough Understanding Of Ap Style.

  • Experience Developing And Implementing Strategic Communication Plans And Campaigns.

  • Knowledge Of State Government Processes And Procedures, As Well As Familiarity With Texas-Specific Issues And Initiatives.
