  1. Conduct thorough inspections of facilities, transportation methods, and storage areas to ensure compliance with state regulations regarding radioactive materials.
  2. Verify that all necessary permits and licenses are obtained and renewed in a timely manner.
  3. Monitor and enforce safety procedures and protocols to prevent potential hazards and ensure the proper handling and disposal of radioactive materials.
  4. Investigate complaints and incidents related to the use or transportation of radioactive materials and take appropriate action to address any violations or safety concerns.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, violations, and corrective actions taken to ensure accountability and regulatory compliance.
  6. Collaborate with other state agencies and stakeholders to develop and implement safety policies and procedures related to radioactive materials.
  7. Participate in training and educational programs to stay updated on the latest regulations and best practices for handling radioactive materials.
  8. Communicate effectively with facility owners, operators, and the general public to provide information and guidance on regulatory requirements and safety measures.
  9. Conduct risk assessments and evaluations of potential hazards associated with radioactive materials and make recommendations for mitigation and prevention measures.
  10. Serve as a subject matter expert on radioactive materials and provide guidance and support to other state agencies and local authorities on matters related to radiation safety.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, Or Radiation Science

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Conducting Radiation Surveys And Inspections In An Industrial Or Regulatory Setting

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Regulations Related To Radioactive Material Handling, Transportation, And Disposal

  • Familiarity With Radiation Detection Equipment And Techniques, As Well As The Ability To Interpret And Analyze Data

  • Excellent Communication And Report Writing Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Technical Information To A Variety Of Stakeholders
