- Serve as the primary point of contact for all emergency and non-emergency calls received by law enforcement personnel.
- Receive and process all calls in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring accurate and detailed information is recorded.
- Dispatch appropriate resources, including police officers, fire departments, and emergency medical services, in response to calls for service.
- Monitor and coordinate radio communications with law enforcement personnel in the field.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all calls and dispatches.
- Utilize various computer systems and software to gather and disseminate information to responding units.
- Provide support and assistance to officers in the field, including running background checks and conducting computer inquiries.
- Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of officers and the community.
- Remain calm and professional in high-stress situations, including handling multiple calls and prioritizing urgent situations.
- Perform administrative duties such as filing reports, entering data, and updating records.
- Communicate effectively with other dispatchers, law enforcement agencies, and emergency service providers.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For This Job Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates Basic Knowledge And The Ability To Read, Write, And Comprehend Instructions And Procedures.
Excellent Communication Skills: A Police Communications Operator Must Have Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills To Effectively Communicate With Law Enforcement Personnel, Emergency Responders, And The Public.
Knowledge Of Emergency Response Procedures: This Job Requires Knowledge Of Emergency Response Procedures And Protocols, Including The Ability To Prioritize And Dispatch Emergency Calls To The Appropriate Law Enforcement Agency.
