
Law Enforcement Defense - Legal Assistant

- Provide administrative support to attorneys and investigators in the Law Enforcement Defense division.
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information to assist with case preparation.
- Draft and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Maintain case files and ensure all necessary documents are organized and easily accessible.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal proceedings.
- Schedule meetings, appointments, and hearings for attorneys and investigators.
- Assist with case management, including tracking deadlines and scheduling court appearances.
- Review and summarize legal documents and evidence.
- Prepare and distribute correspondence, including letters, emails, and memos.
- Update and maintain databases and case management systems.
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, taking messages, and filing documents.
- Collaborate with other legal assistants and team members to ensure efficient and effective case management.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to ethical standards.
- Stay updated on legal developments and changes in laws and regulations.
- Uphold the mission and values of the State of Texas and the Law Enforcement Defense division.
Legal Knowledge And Understanding: A Law Enforcement Defense - Legal Assistant At The State Of Texas Must Have A Strong Understanding Of The Legal System And Be Knowledgeable About Criminal Law, Court Procedures, And Legal Terminology.
Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Essential In This Role, As The Legal Assistant Will Have To Communicate With Various Parties, Including Law Enforcement Officers, Attorneys, And Court Personnel. Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills Are A Must.
Attention To Detail: Working In A Legal Setting Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail. The Legal Assistant Must Be Able To Accurately Review And Analyze Documents, Maintain Records, And Identify Any Discrepancies Or Errors.
Organizational Skills: With Multiple Cases And Tasks To Manage, A Law Enforcement Defense - Legal Assistant Must Have Strong Organizational Skills To Prioritize And Manage Their Workload Effectively. They Must Be Able To Meet Tight Deadlines And Keep Track Of Important Information And Deadlines.
Teamwork And Interpersonal Skills: The State Of Texas Values Team Players Who Can Work Collaboratively With Others.
