  1. Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to effectively promote the State of Texas and its initiatives to a global audience.
  2. Lead a team of communication professionals to ensure cohesive messaging and branding across all platforms.
  3. Collaborate with various government agencies and departments to identify key messaging and develop targeted communication plans.
  4. Act as a spokesperson for the State of Texas, representing the state in media interviews and public speaking engagements.
  5. Monitor and analyze media coverage and public perception of the state, and make recommendations for adjustments to communication strategies as needed.
  6. Manage and maintain relationships with media outlets and other external stakeholders.
  7. Develop and maintain crisis communication plans to effectively handle any potential issues or negative publicity.
  8. Stay informed on current trends and best practices in public relations and utilize this knowledge to continuously improve communication efforts.
  9. Provide guidance and support to government officials and other stakeholders on effective communication strategies and messaging.
  10. Ensure compliance with all ethical and legal standards in communication efforts.
  11. Develop and manage communication budgets and resources.
  12. Collaborate with other departments, such as marketing and tourism, to ensure cohesive messaging and branding across all efforts.
  13. Represent the State of Texas at various events and conferences, promoting its message and initiatives.
  14. Act as a liaison between the state government and the public, addressing any concerns or inquiries.
  15. Continuously evaluate and measure the effectiveness of communication strategies and make adjustments as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In Communications Or Public Relations, Preferably In A Government Setting.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Media Relations, Crisis Communications, And Strategic Communications Planning.

  • Strong Leadership Skills And Experience Managing A Team Of Communications Professionals.

  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills And Ability To Effectively Communicate With Diverse Audiences.
