  1. Represent the state in legal proceedings related to child support matters, including but not limited to paternity establishment, child support enforcement, and modification of child support orders.
  2. Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to effectively advocate for the rights and best interests of children and families in child support cases.
  3. Collaborate with other legal professionals and agency staff to gather and present evidence, develop legal strategies, and ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  4. Prepare and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and briefs, in a timely and accurate manner.
  5. Attend court hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings to present arguments and negotiate on behalf of the state.
  6. Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in child support cases to gather information and provide updates on case progress.
  7. Keep abreast of changes in child support laws and regulations and apply them to ongoing cases.
  8. Maintain accurate and thorough case records and documentation.
  9. Collaborate with other agencies and departments, such as child protective services and law enforcement, to coordinate efforts and ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  10. Uphold ethical standards and professional conduct in all interactions and decisions.
  11. Provide guidance and support to less experienced legal professionals and support staff.
  12. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance legal knowledge and skills.
  13. Promote the mission and values of the state agency and represent the agency in a professional and positive manner.
  14. Travel as needed for court hearings, meetings, and training.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School.

  • Active Membership In Good Standing With The State Bar Of Texas.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience Practicing Family Law, With A Focus On Child Support Cases.

  • Knowledge Of The Texas Family Code And Related Statutes Governing Child Support.

  • Experience In Successfully Litigating Child Support Cases, Including In Front Of Administrative Hearings And In Court.
