
WILDLIFE EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Welcome to the State of Tennessee! We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Wildlife Equipment Operator to join our team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to work in some of the most beautiful and diverse natural areas of our state, while also helping to conserve and protect our wildlife. - Operate heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner, following all state and federal guidelines and regulations.
- Maintain and repair equipment as needed to ensure proper functioning.
- Participate in the maintenance and upkeep of natural areas, including but not limited to trails, roads, and wildlife habitats.
- Assist with the management and control of invasive species to protect native wildlife.
- Collaborate with other team members and state agencies to coordinate projects and tasks.
- Conduct routine inspections and report any issues or concerns to superiors.
- Ensure all equipment is properly stored and secured at the end of each work day.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while operating heavy equipment.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate equipment performance and make recommendations for upgrades or replacements.
- Stay up-to-date on industry advancements and techniques related to heavy equipment operation and wildlife conservation.
- Foster a positive and professional relationship with coworkers, superiors, and the public.
- Represent the State of Tennessee in a positive manner and promote the importance of wildlife conservation.
- Attend trainings, workshops, and meetings as required to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned by superiors.
Knowledge Of Wildlife Management: A Wildlife Equipment Operator Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Wildlife Management Principles, Including Habitat Conservation, Animal Behavior, And Hunting Regulations.
Experience Operating Heavy Equipment: Candidates Should Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Operating Heavy Equipment Such As Bulldozers, Excavators, And Tractors. Experience With Specialized Equipment Used In Wildlife Management, Such As Brush Cutters And Seeders, Is Also Preferred.
Safety Training And Certifications: Due To The Potential Hazards Of Operating Heavy Equipment, Candidates Should Have Completed Safety Training And Possess Necessary Certifications, Such As Osha Or Cdl.
Physical Fitness: This Role Requires Physical Strength And Stamina To Operate Heavy Equipment For Long Periods Of Time, Often In Challenging Terrain And Weather Conditions.
Communication And Teamwork Skills: Wildlife Equipment Operators Often Work In Teams, So Effective Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Collaboratively Are Essential. They May Also Need To Communicate With Other Wildlife Management Professionals, Such As Biologists And Hunters, So Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Important.
