Job Description

If so, the State of Tennessee is looking for a dedicated individual like you to join our team as a Probation/Parole Officer 1.In this role, you will have the opportunity to work directly with offenders to ensure compliance with court-ordered conditions and facilitate their rehabilitation and reintegration into their communities.   1. Conduct regular visits and check-ins with assigned probationers and parolees to monitor their compliance with court-ordered conditions.
  2. Develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans for each offender, focusing on their specific needs and circumstances.
  3. Facilitate and coordinate access to resources and services, such as job training and mental health treatment, to support the successful reintegration of offenders into society.
  4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and records for each assigned offender.
  5. Conduct thorough risk assessments and make appropriate recommendations for supervision and treatment.
  6. Collaborate with other criminal justice professionals, such as judges, attorneys, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and effective supervision and rehabilitation efforts.
  7. Enforce court-ordered sanctions and consequences for non-compliance, while also providing support and guidance for offenders to meet their obligations.
  8. Conduct investigations and report findings to the court regarding violations or progress made by offenders.
  9. Provide support and assistance to offenders' families and communities, promoting a network of positive support for their successful reintegration.
  10. Stay informed about current laws, policies, and best practices related to probation and parole, and implement them effectively in daily work.
  11. Serve as a positive role model and mentor for offenders, promoting accountability, responsibility, and positive decision-making.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions and communications with offenders, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  13. Participate in training, professional development, and case consultations to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  14. Demonstrate a commitment to promoting public safety and reducing recidivism through effective supervision and rehabilitation practices.
  15. Other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Or A Related Field.

  • Knowledge Of Probation And Parole Procedures And Related Laws And Regulations.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Work With Clients, Colleagues, And Other Criminal Justice Professionals.

  • Ability To Exercise Good Judgment And Make Sound Decisions In High-Pressure Situations.

  • Experience Working With Individuals Involved In The Criminal Justice System Or In A Social Services Setting Is Preferred.
