Job Description

  1. Develop and implement sustainable forestry management plans for state forests, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  2. Conduct field surveys and assessments to monitor and evaluate forest conditions, identify potential threats, and recommend appropriate management strategies.
  3. Supervise and coordinate the work of lower level forestry staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
  4. Collaborate with other government agencies, private landowners, and community groups to promote forest conservation and ensure effective management of shared resources.
  5. Conduct research and stay up-to-date on industry developments and best practices to continuously improve forestry management techniques.
  6. Manage and maintain accurate records and data related to forestry activities, including budgets, contracts, and inventory.
  7. Participate in public education and outreach programs to raise awareness and promote responsible forest stewardship.
  8. Respond to and resolve issues and complaints related to forestry activities, providing timely and effective solutions.
  9. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  10. Represent the state at meetings, conferences, and other events to advocate for sustainable forestry practices and promote the state's forestry program.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Forestry Or Related Field From An Accredited Institution.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Forest Management, Including Planning, Monitoring, And Reporting.

  • Professional Certification From A Recognized Forestry Organization, Such As The Society Of American Foresters (Saf).

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Regulations, And Policies Related To Forestry And Natural Resource Management.

  • Proficiency In Gis And Other Forestry-Related Software And Technology.
