As a member of the council, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the department's leadership team to provide valuable insights and perspectives on issues affecting students in Oregon.   1. Collaborate with department leadership team to identify and address key issues affecting students in Oregon.
  2. Attend regular meetings and actively participate in discussions and decision-making processes.
  3. Conduct research and gather information on education-related topics to inform discussions and recommendations.
  4. Provide valuable insights and perspectives as a young individual and representative of Oregon's student population.
  5. Act as a liaison between the department and other youth organizations or communities.
  6. Promote the council and its initiatives to other students and encourage their participation and involvement.
  7. Develop and implement projects or initiatives that align with the council's mission and goals.
  8. Communicate effectively with fellow council members, department leadership, and other stakeholders.
  9. Represent the council and its viewpoints at public events or meetings.
  10. Act as a positive role model for other students and uphold the values and principles of the council and the department.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Understanding Of Education Policies: A Qualified Candidate For The Youth Advisory Council Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Education Policies And Practices In The State Of Oregon. This Includes Knowledge Of The Educational System, Funding, And Current Initiatives.

  • Experience In Youth Advocacy: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Prior Experience In Youth Advocacy, Either Through Working With Student Organizations, Volunteering With Youth-Focused Nonprofits, Or Participating In Youth Leadership Programs.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: As A Member Of The Youth Advisory Council, The Individual Will Be Required To Effectively Communicate With Peers, Educators, And Policymakers. Therefore, Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For This Role.

  • Passion For Improving Education: The Primary Goal Of The Youth Advisory Council Is To Provide Feedback And Recommendations To The Oregon Department Of Education On How To Improve The Education System. A Qualified Candidate Should Have A Genuine Interest And Passion For Making A Positive Impact In The Education Sector.

  • Diversity And Inclusivity: The Youth Advisory Council Should Be Representative Of The Diverse Student Population In Oregon.
