
Wildland Fire Suppression Specialist

- Respond to emergency situations and conduct wildland fire suppression operations as directed by the State of Oregon.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment and tools for fire suppression activities.
- Conduct fire line construction, burnout operations, and mop up procedures to contain and extinguish wildfires.
- Monitor weather conditions and fire behavior to determine appropriate fire management strategies.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to coordinate fire suppression efforts and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Conduct fire prevention and education activities to promote fire safety and awareness in local communities.
- Utilize knowledge of fire behavior and topography to assess potential risks and develop effective fire management plans.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure the well-being of yourself and team members.
- Maintain accurate records and report on fire activities, resource usage, and other relevant information.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to wildland fire suppression.
- Support and promote the mission and values of the State of Oregon through your work and interactions with the community.
- Continuously monitor and assess wildfire risks and provide recommendations for mitigation and prevention efforts.
- Act as a representative of the State of Oregon and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, including local agencies, landowners, and community members.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to public service in all job duties and responsibilities.
Valid Certification As A Wildland Firefighter Type 2 Or Higher, As Recognized By The National Wildfire Coordinating Group (Nwcg).
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Wildland Fire Suppression, With A Strong Understanding Of Fire Behavior And Tactics.
Current Or Ability To Obtain A Valid Class B Driver's License With A Tanker Endorsement.
Strong Physical Fitness And Ability To Work In Rugged Terrain And Adverse Weather Conditions.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Coordinate With Other Firefighters And Incident Command Personnel.
