Job Description

The State of Oregon is looking for an experienced Statewide Recreation Trails Planner to join our team. We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for recreation and a commitment to creating safe and accessible trails for Oregonians! The ideal candidate for this position will have a combination of experience in recreation and trail planning, excellent communication skills, and an enthusiasm for collaboration with a variety of stakeholders. Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, landscape architecture, planning, civil engineering, or related field- At least two years’ experience in recreation and trail planning- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including members of the public, private entities, and local government- Proficient in Microsoft Office and GIS software- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop, implement, and evaluate recreation and trail plans for the State of Oregon.
  2. Develop creative solutions to address the needs of various stakeholders related to trail planning.
  3. Conduct research and analysis to inform trail design and planning decisions.
  4. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for stakeholders.
  5. Facilitate public meetings and workshops related to trail planning.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the progress of trail projects.
  7. Utilize Microsoft Office and GIS software to create maps, charts, and other documents.
  8. Collaborate with public, private, and local government agencies to ensure successful trail planning.
  9. Maintain and update knowledge of trends and developments in recreation and trail planning.
  10. Travel to various locations as needed for meetings and field work.
