Job Description

If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you as a Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant at the State of Oregon. This role will allow you to explore the beautiful parks and forests of Oregon while assisting the Park Rangers in various tasks. We are looking for individuals with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a love for the outdoors. Join us in preserving and promoting the natural wonders of Oregon for future generations to enjoy.

  1. Conduct park tours and provide information to visitors about the park's history, wildlife, and conservation efforts.
  2. Assist Park Rangers in enforcing park rules and regulations to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors.
  3. Educate visitors on Leave No Trace principles and other sustainable practices to promote conservation and preservation of the park's resources.
  4. Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of park facilities, including trails, campsites, and picnic areas.
  5. Monitor park activities and report any potential safety hazards or issues to Park Rangers.
  6. Provide excellent customer service to visitors, answering questions and addressing any concerns or complaints.
  7. Help organize and lead educational programs, workshops, and events related to nature and conservation.
  8. Maintain accurate records and reports of park visitation, activities, and incidents.
  9. Collaborate with other park staff and volunteers to complete various tasks and projects.
  10. Continuously develop knowledge and understanding of local flora and fauna, park history, and conservation efforts to effectively communicate with visitors.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For This Position Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Understanding Of Academic Subjects And Is Able To Communicate Effectively.

  • Previous Experience In A Related Field: Candidates With Previous Experience In A Related Field Such As Natural Resource Management, Outdoor Education, Or Customer Service Will Be Given Preference. This Experience Demonstrates A Strong Understanding Of The Duties And Responsibilities Of A Park Ranger Assistant.

  • Physical Fitness And Outdoor Skills: Seasonal Park Ranger Assistants Are Required To Work Outdoors In Various Weather Conditions And Perform Physically Demanding Tasks Such As Hiking, Lifting, And Operating Equipment. Therefore, Candidates Should Possess Adequate Physical Fitness And Outdoor Skills To Perform The Job Effectively.

  • Knowledge Of Local Flora And Fauna: A Basic Understanding Of Local Plants, Wildlife, And Ecosystems Is Essential For A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant. This Knowledge Enables Them To Provide Accurate Information To Visitors And Assist With Conservation Efforts.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant, Candidates Will Interact With A Diverse Group Of Visitors On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Strong Communication And Customer Service Skills Are Necessary To Effectively Communicate Rules And Regulations, Address Visitor Concerns, And Provide A Positive Experience For All Visitors.
