
Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant

- Greet and welcome visitors to state parks, providing them with information and assistance as needed.
- Assist park rangers with daily tasks, including maintaining park facilities, collecting fees, and enforcing park rules and regulations.
- Help to educate visitors on the importance of preserving natural resources and the rules and regulations of the park.
- Assist in organizing and leading educational programs and events for park visitors.
- Monitor park grounds and report any maintenance or safety concerns to park rangers.
- Collaborate with other park staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
- Serve as a positive and knowledgeable representative of the State of Oregon and its parks.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of park usage, incidents, and visitor feedback.
- Continuously seek to improve and enhance the visitor experience through suggestions and feedback.
- Be willing to work in various weather conditions and irregular hours, as needed.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to park ranger duties.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for staff and visitors.
- Foster and promote a team-oriented culture within the park staff.
- Assist in other park-related duties as assigned by park rangers or park management.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Education And Can Understand And Follow Instructions.
Prior Experience In A Customer Service Or Outdoor Recreation Setting: Previous Experience In Customer Service Or Outdoor Recreation, Such As Working At A Park, Campground, Or Outdoor Education Facility, Is Preferred. This Experience Shows That The Candidate Has A Basic Understanding Of Park Operations And Can Handle Interactions With Park Visitors.
Knowledge Of Local Flora, Fauna, And Natural Resources: A Basic Understanding Of The Local Flora, Fauna, And Natural Resources Is Important For A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant. This Knowledge Is Necessary To Assist Visitors With Questions And To Ensure The Protection And Preservation Of The Park's Natural Resources.
First Aid And Cpr Certification: As A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant, The Candidate May Be Responsible For Responding To Medical Emergencies. Therefore, A Current First Aid And Cpr Certification Is Required. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Prepared To Handle Emergency Situations.
Ability To Work Outdoors In Various Weather Conditions: This Position Requires The Candidate To Work Outdoors In Various Weather Conditions, Including Hot And Cold Temperatures, Rain, And Snow. The Candidate Should Be Physically Able To Perform Tasks Such As Hiking, Lifting, And Operating Equipment In These Conditions.
