  1. Assist park rangers in daily operations including visitor services, maintenance, and resource management.
  2. Provide exceptional customer service to park visitors, including answering questions, providing information, and ensuring a positive experience for all.
  3. Help maintain and protect natural resources in the park through activities such as trail maintenance, wildlife monitoring, and litter removal.
  4. Assist with park programs and events, including leading educational tours and activities.
  5. Enforce park rules and regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors and the protection of park resources.
  6. Serve as a knowledgeable and friendly ambassador for the state parks, promoting their beauty and importance to visitors.
  7. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to park operations and natural resource management.
  8. Maintain accurate records and reports related to park operations and visitor interactions.
  9. Work collaboratively with park ranger team members and other park staff to achieve common goals.
  10. Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times, representing the State of Oregon and the park system with pride and integrity.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Park Operations And Regulations: A Successful Candidate For This Role Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Park Rules And Regulations, As Well As How Park Facilities And Operations Are Managed. This Knowledge Will Be Essential In Providing Accurate Information To Park Visitors And Ensuring The Safety And Preservation Of The Park.

  • Experience In Customer Service: As A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant, You Will Interact With A Diverse Group Of Park Visitors On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Having Previous Experience In Customer Service Is Essential. This Includes Excellent Communication Skills, The Ability To Handle Difficult Situations With Patience And Professionalism, And A Positive Attitude.

  • Physical Fitness And Outdoor Skills: This Job Requires Spending A Significant Amount Of Time Outdoors, Often In Rugged Terrain And Varying Weather Conditions. It Is Important For Candidates To Have Good Physical Fitness And Outdoor Skills To Perform Tasks Such As Hiking, Trail Maintenance, And Emergency Response.

  • Knowledge Of Natural Resources And Environmental Conservation: State Parks Are Home To A Variety Of Natural Resources And Wildlife, And It Is Important For A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant To Have A Basic Understanding Of These Resources And How To Protect Them. This May Include Knowledge Of Local Plants And Animals, Invasive Species, And Principles Of Environmental Conservation.

  • Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team: While Working As A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant, You May Be Required To Work Independently Or As Part Of A Team. It Is Important To Be Self-Motivated, Responsible, And Able To Work Well With Others To Successfully Complete Tasks And Projects Assigned By Park Management.
