- Assist in the daily operations and maintenance of state parks, including but not limited to: trail maintenance, campground upkeep, facility cleaning and repair, and natural resource conservation.
- Provide excellent customer service to park visitors by answering questions, providing information, and enforcing park rules and regulations.
- Assist in the protection and preservation of natural resources by monitoring and reporting any issues or concerns.
- Conduct routine patrols of park grounds to ensure safety and security of visitors, facilities, and natural resources.
- Educate park visitors on environmental conservation practices and promote responsible use of park resources.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of park events and programs, including nature walks, educational programs, and recreational activities.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to park operations, visitor statistics, and any incidents or accidents.
- Work collaboratively with other park staff and agencies to ensure efficient and effective operation of the park.
- Continuously learn and stay up-to-date on park policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Serve as a positive role model for fellow staff members and park visitors, promoting teamwork, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
Knowledge Of Park Operations: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Park Operations And Be Familiar With Park Rules And Regulations. This Includes Knowledge Of Park Maintenance, Visitor Services, And Natural Resource Management.
Customer Service Skills: A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant Must Possess Excellent Customer Service Skills And Be Able To Interact With Park Visitors In A Friendly And Professional Manner. This Includes Providing Information And Assistance To Visitors, Addressing Any Concerns Or Complaints, And Ensuring A Positive Experience For All Park Guests.
Outdoor Skills: This Position Requires A Candidate With Strong Outdoor Skills, Including Knowledge Of Hiking And Camping, Navigation, And Basic First Aid. The Candidate Should Also Be Comfortable Working In Various Weather Conditions And Be Physically Fit To Perform Tasks Such As Trail Maintenance And Litter Cleanup.
Communication And Teamwork: As A Seasonal Park Ranger Assistant, The Candidate Will Work Closely With Other Park Staff And Volunteers. Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential In Order To Effectively Work Together To Accomplish Park Goals And Objectives.
Environmental Education: The State Of Oregon Values Education And Encourages Park Staff To Provide Educational Programs And Activities For Visitors. Therefore, Candidates With A Background In Environmental Education Or Experience Leading Educational Programs Will Be Highly Preferred For This Position.
