Hello! Are you passionate about boating and safety on the water? The State of Oregon is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Seasonal Boating Safety Advocate.   1. Promote safe boating practices: The Boating Safety Advocate will be responsible for promoting safe boating practices to the public, including educating them on proper equipment usage, navigation rules, and emergency procedures.
  2. Educate the public on water safety: The Boating Safety Advocate will be responsible for educating the public on the importance of water safety, including the dangers of boating under the influence, the importance of life jackets, and other safety precautions.
  3. Conduct outreach and awareness campaigns: The Boating Safety Advocate will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach and awareness campaigns to increase public knowledge and understanding of boating safety.
  4. Collaborate with other organizations: The Boating Safety Advocate will work closely with other organizations, such as the Coast Guard and local boating clubs, to promote safe boating practices and coordinate events and activities.
  5. Create educational materials: The Boating Safety Advocate will be responsible for creating educational materials, such as brochures, flyers, and social media content, to support boating safety initiatives.
  6. Conduct safety inspections: The Boating Safety Advocate will conduct safety inspections of boats and equipment to ensure compliance with state regulations and promote safe boating practices.
  7. Provide training and workshops: The Boating Safety Advocate will be responsible for organizing and conducting training and workshops for boaters on various safety topics.
  8. Respond to boating emergencies: The Boating Safety Advocate may need to respond to boating emergencies and provide assistance to boaters in distress, in coordination with other agencies and emergency services.
  9. Maintain records and reports: The Boating Safety Advocate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and preparing reports on outreach efforts, safety inspections, and other related activities.
  10. Stay updated on boating laws and regulations: The Boating Safety Advocate will be responsible for staying updated on boating laws and regulations to ensure accurate and current knowledge when promoting safe boating practices.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Boating Safety Regulations: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Boating Safety Laws And Regulations In The State Of Oregon. This Includes Knowledge Of Boat Registration Requirements, Required Safety Equipment, And Navigation Rules.

  • Boating Experience: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Hands-On Experience Operating Various Types Of Boats, Such As Motorboats, Sailboats, And Personal Watercraft. This Experience Should Also Include Knowledge Of Safe Boating Practices And Emergency Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: A Successful Boating Safety Advocate Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Boaters, State Officials, And Other Stakeholders. This Includes Written Communication, Public Speaking, And The Ability To Present Information In A Clear And Concise Manner.

  • Strong Organizational Skills: This Position Involves Coordinating And Conducting Boating Safety Education Programs And Events. The Candidate Should Have Strong Organizational Skills To Effectively Plan, Schedule, And Execute These Activities.

  • Passion For Promoting Boating Safety: The Candidate Should Have A Genuine Interest In Promoting Boating Safety And Educating The Public About The Importance Of Safe Boating Practices. This Includes A Commitment To Staying Updated On Current Boating Safety Trends And Initiatives.
