Job Description

The State of Oregon is searching for an experienced Revenue Agent to join our team. We're looking for an individual who has an eye for detail, a passion for problem solving, and a commitment to serving the people of Oregon. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting audits of taxes and providing guidance to taxpayers, businesses, and other stakeholders.The ideal candidate will have a degree in accounting or a related field, as well as practical work experience in a related field. They will need to have strong organizational and communication skills, be able to prioritize competing tasks, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively. It is essential that the successful candidate have a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, as well as the ability to interpret and explain them. They should also have experience in preparing and filing tax returns.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct audits of taxes and provide guidance to taxpayers, businesses, and other stakeholders.
  2. Analyze tax laws and regulations to interpret and explain them to taxpayers.
  3. Prepare and file tax returns.
  4. Prioritize competing tasks and manage workload.
  5. Maintain accurate records of tax audits and related activities.
  6. Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with tax laws.
  7. Stay up-to-date on changes to tax laws and regulations.
  8. Provide advice and assistance to taxpayers and other stakeholders.
  9. Identify and investigate potential tax fraud.
  10. Respond to inquiries from taxpayers and other stakeholders.
