Job Description

The State of Oregon is currently recruiting for a Public Affairs Specialist to join our team. We are looking for an experienced, motivated individual who is passionate about public relations and communications. The ideal candidate will have a background in public affairs and strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with different types of people. The successful applicant must be able to think strategically, develop and execute plans, and maintain excellent public relations.The successful candidate for this position will have a minimum of 3 years of public affairs experience, preferably in a government organization. They must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. They should have a strong understanding of media relations and an in-depth knowledge of public relations tactics and strategies. The ideal candidate will also possess strong organizational and project management skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute public relations plans and strategies to meet the State of Oregon's public affairs objectives.
  2. Maintain excellent public relations with internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Build relationships with media outlets and other external partners.
  4. Prepare written materials, such as press releases, newsletters, and articles for publication.
  5. Monitor and respond to media enquiries.
  6. Develop and implement creative campaigns to raise awareness of the State of Oregon's initiatives and activities.
  7. Participate in meetings and events to represent the State of Oregon.
  8. Track and evaluate the effectiveness of public relations activities.
  9. Develop and maintain a database of contacts to ensure effective communication.
  10. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
