Job Description

  1. Manage and oversee the daily operations of the legal support staff in the State of Oregon's Portland office.
  2. Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of legal services by overseeing and coordinating the work of the legal support team.
  3. Develop and implement processes and procedures to streamline legal support operations and improve efficiency.
  4. Monitor and evaluate the performance of the legal support team, providing feedback and coaching as needed to ensure high-quality work.
  5. Serve as a liaison between the legal support staff and other departments, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  6. Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may affect legal support operations and implement necessary adjustments.
  7. Collaborate with other legal managers to develop and implement training programs for legal support staff to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  8. Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and training of new legal support staff to ensure they are equipped to fulfill their roles.
  9. Manage the budget for the legal support department, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately and expenses are within allotted limits.
  10. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the legal support team, promoting teamwork and professional development.
  11. Serve as a point of contact for escalated issues and provide guidance and support to legal support staff in resolving complex cases.
  12. Represent the legal support team in meetings and discussions with other departments and external stakeholders.
  13. Continuously identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of legal support operations.
  14. Uphold the values and mission of the State of Oregon's legal department and adhere to all ethical and professional standards.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree In Legal Studies, Business Administration, Or Related Field.

  • At Least 5 Years Of Experience In A Legal Support Role, Preferably In A Government Agency.

  • Knowledge Of Oregon State Laws And Regulations.

  • Strong Leadership And Management Skills, With Experience Leading A Team Of Legal Support Staff.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Attorneys, Judges, And Other Legal Professionals.
