  1. Attend and successfully complete the rigorous training program at the Oregon State Police Academy.
  2. Uphold and demonstrate the core values of integrity, respect, and excellence in all aspects of the job.
  3. Maintain physical fitness and mental readiness to handle the demands of the job.
  4. Enforce state laws and protect the public by responding to calls, conducting investigations, and performing traffic stops.
  5. Work closely with fellow officers and other law enforcement agencies to ensure public safety.
  6. Adhere to department policies, procedures, and protocols at all times.
  7. Communicate effectively and professionally with the public, victims, witnesses, and suspects.
  8. Continuously develop and maintain knowledge of state laws and regulations.
  9. Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess situations and make sound decisions.
  10. Maintain accurate and thorough records, including written reports and documentation.
  11. Serve as a positive representative of the Oregon State Police in the community.
  12. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

  14. Serve as a role model and mentor for new recruits and junior officers.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The First Qualification For A Oregon State Police Recruit Trooper Job Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And The Ability To Follow Instructions And Complete Tasks.

  • Valid Driver's License: A Valid Driver's License Is Required For This Position, As Troopers Are Often Required To Drive Long Distances And Respond To Emergencies. A Clean Driving Record May Also Be Required.

  • Physical Fitness: Candidates Must Be Physically Fit And Able To Pass A Physical Fitness Test, As Well As Meet Certain Height And Weight Requirements. This Is Necessary For The Demanding Physical Nature Of The Job, Which May Involve Running, Lifting, And Other Strenuous Activities.

  • Background Check: Applicants Must Pass A Thorough Background Check, Including A Criminal History Check, To Ensure They Have No Disqualifying Convictions. This Is Necessary For The Safety And Security Of The Public.

  • Oregon State Police Academy: All Recruits Must Successfully Complete The Oregon State Police Academy, Which Includes Both Academic And Physical Training. This Academy Is Designed To Prepare Recruits For The Demands Of The Job And Ensure They Have The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Become A Trooper.
