Job Description

Welcome to the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Advancement at the State of Oregon!   1. Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to advance the rights and opportunities of immigrants and refugees in the state of Oregon.
  2. Serve as the primary spokesperson and representative of the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Advancement, advocating for the needs and concerns of these communities.
  3. Collaborate with other government agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders to address immigration policies and issues.
  4. Oversee the department's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with state regulations.
  5. Provide leadership and guidance to a team of staff members, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  6. Stay updated on current immigration laws, policies, and trends, and use this knowledge to inform decision-making and program development.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including immigrants and refugees, community leaders, and elected officials.
  8. Plan and organize events, workshops, and other programs to educate and empower immigrants and refugees in the state.
  9. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, making necessary adjustments to ensure maximum impact.
  10. Prepare and present reports to state officials and other stakeholders, highlighting the accomplishments and impact of the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Advancement.
  11. Stay current on best practices in the field of immigration and refugee services, and implement them in the department's operations.
  12. Uphold the values and mission of the Office of Immigrant and Refugee Advancement, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the work.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Social Work, Public Policy, Or International Relations.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working With Immigrant And Refugee Communities, Preferably In A Leadership Or Advocacy Role.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of State And Federal Laws And Policies Related To Immigration And Refugees, As Well As The Challenges And Barriers Faced By These Populations.

  • Strong Communication And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders And Effectively Manage Projects And Budgets.

  • Proven Experience In Developing And Implementing Programs And Initiatives That Promote The Economic, Social, And Cultural Integration Of Immigrants And Refugees.
