Job Description

Welcome to the State of Oregon's Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facility! We are currently seeking a highly qualified and dedicated individual to join our team as the Superintendent of our facility. As the leader of our facility, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring the safety, security, and rehabilitation of our youth population. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of troubled youth and who possesses strong leadership skills.   1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Oak Creek Youth Correctional Facility, including managing staff, maintaining facility standards, and ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure the safety and security of all youth within the facility by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular inspections.
  3. Develop and implement effective rehabilitation programs and services for youth, including educational, vocational, and therapeutic opportunities.
  4. Lead and manage a team of staff members, providing guidance, support, and regular performance evaluations.
  5. Maintain open and effective communication with all staff members, youth, and external agencies to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
  6. Monitor and manage the facility's budget, making strategic decisions to allocate resources effectively and efficiently.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to support the facility's mission and goals.
  8. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in the field of youth corrections and use this knowledge to continuously improve the facility's programs and services.
  9. Ensure all state and federal regulations are followed, and all necessary reports and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  10. Act as a positive role model for youth by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and compassion in all interactions.
  11. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and mutual respect.
  12. Continuously evaluate and assess the facility's operations, programs, and services to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  13. Participate in meetings, conferences, and training opportunities to stay current on relevant topics and network with other professionals in the field.
  14. Represent the facility and the State of Oregon in a professional manner at all times.
  15. Adhere to the facility's code of conduct and ethical standards, modeling appropriate behavior for staff and youth.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Social Work, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role Within A Juvenile Justice Facility.

  • Knowledge Of Oregon's Juvenile Justice System And Laws.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Work With Staff, Youth, And Stakeholders.

  • Experience In Program Development And Implementation, As Well As Budget Management.
