
Multilingual and Migrant Education Office Specialist

- Assist in the implementation of programs and services that promote educational opportunities for multilingual and migrant students in the state of Oregon.
- Provide administrative support to the Multilingual and Migrant Education Office, including managing schedules, coordinating meetings, and maintaining records.
- Serve as a liaison between the office and external stakeholders, including schools, community organizations, and government agencies.
- Communicate effectively with a diverse community of students, families, and educators in multiple languages.
- Support the recruitment and retention of multilingual and migrant students in educational programs.
- Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement strategies for promoting diversity and equity in education.
- Conduct research and collect data to inform decision-making and program development.
- Help plan and coordinate events, workshops, and trainings related to multilingual and migrant education.
- Prepare and distribute informational materials, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Stay updated on relevant laws, policies, and best practices related to multilingual and migrant education.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and promotes equity.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Fluency In Multiple Languages: The Multilingual And Migrant Education Office Specialist Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively In At Least Two Languages, With Proficiency In English And Another Commonly Spoken Language In The Local Community.
Knowledge Of Migrant And Refugee Education Programs: This Position Requires Experience And Understanding Of The Unique Challenges And Needs Of Migrant And Refugee Students, As Well As Knowledge Of State And Federal Programs Designed To Support Their Education.
Organizational And Administrative Skills: The Office Specialist Must Be Detail-Oriented And Able To Manage Multiple Tasks And Deadlines Effectively. Proficiency In Microsoft Office And Other Relevant Software Is Also Essential.
Cultural Competency: Working With Diverse Populations, The Office Specialist Must Demonstrate Cultural Sensitivity And The Ability To Build Relationships With Individuals From Different Backgrounds.
Experience In Education Or Social Services: A Background In Education, Particularly In Working With Underserved Or Marginalized Communities, Is Highly Desirable For This Position. Experience In Social Services, Community Outreach, Or Advocacy Work Is Also Relevant.
