
Forest Management Technician

- Conduct forest inventory and monitoring activities to assess the health and productivity of state-owned forestlands.
- Develop and implement sustainable forest management plans in collaboration with other team members and stakeholders.
- Conduct field surveys and collect data on forest conditions, wildlife populations, and timber resources.
- Assist with timber sales and harvest operations, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable forestry practices.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other technology to analyze and map forest data.
- Conduct research and stay updated on current forest management practices and policies.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including landowners, community members, and other agencies.
- Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials to communicate forest management activities and results.
- Collaborate with other forestry professionals and participate in team meetings and projects.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Assist with fire prevention and suppression efforts, including prescribed burns and fire line construction.
- Maintain and repair equipment, tools, and facilities used in forest management activities.
- Assist with the recruitment, training, and supervision of seasonal staff and volunteers.
- Adhere to all state and federal regulations and policies related to forest management.
- Represent the State of Oregon's values and mission in all actions and interactions.
Strong Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal.
Bachelor's Degree In Forestry, Natural Resource Management, Or A Related Field.
At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Forest Management Or Related Field.
Knowledge Of Oregon Forest Laws, Regulations, And Management Practices.
Proficiency In Gis Software And Other Relevant Technology Used In Forest Management.
