  5. Identifying and addressing potential threats to forest health, such as invasive species, disease, and wildfire.
  6. Conducting research and staying up-to-date on current forest management techniques and practices.
  7. Performing field work, including tree inventories, tree marking, and vegetation sampling.
  8. Monitoring and reporting on forest health and productivity.
  9. Assisting with the planning and execution of timber sales and other forest management activities.
  10. Communicating with landowners, community members, and other stakeholders to educate and raise awareness about forest management efforts.
  11. Maintaining accurate records and reports of forest management activities.
  12. Following safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  13. Participating in professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  14. Representing the organization in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Forestry Or Related Field: The State Of Oregon Requires A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Forestry Or A Related Field For The Position Of Forest Management Technician. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Understanding Of Forest Management Principles And Techniques.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Regulations: Forest Management Technicians Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of State And Federal Regulations Related To Forestry, Including Environmental Laws, Land Use Regulations, And Timber Harvesting Guidelines. This Knowledge Is Essential For Ensuring Compliance And Promoting Sustainable Practices.

  • Experience With Gis And Other Mapping Software: The State Of Oregon Uses Geographic Information Systems (Gis) And Other Mapping Software For Forest Management Planning And Analysis. Candidates For This Position Should Have Experience Working With These Tools And Be Proficient In Interpreting And Analyzing Spatial Data.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Forest Management Technicians Work Closely With Other Team Members, Landowners, And Stakeholders. They Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively And Collaborate With Others To Achieve Common Goals. Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Also Necessary For Building Positive Relationships And Resolving Conflicts.

  • Physical Fitness And Outdoor Experience: This Role Requires Spending A Significant Amount Of Time Outdoors, Often In Remote And Rugged Terrain. Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Have Experience With Outdoor Activities Such As Hiking, Camping, And Fieldwork. This Ensures They Can Perform The Duties Of The Job Safely And Effectively.
