Job Description

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and have a passion for investigative work? The State of Oregon is seeking a skilled Fingerprint Technician to join our team. As a Fingerprint Technician, you will play a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and processing fingerprint evidence to assist in criminal investigations. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.   1. Collect and process fingerprint evidence in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  2. Analyze and compare fingerprint evidence to identify potential matches and assist in criminal investigations.
  3. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all fingerprint evidence and related information.
  4. Utilize specialized equipment and software to enhance and analyze fingerprints.
  5. Work independently to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and assignments.
  6. Communicate effectively with law enforcement officials, attorneys, and other stakeholders regarding fingerprint evidence.
  7. Adhere to strict confidentiality and security protocols to ensure the integrity of evidence.
  8. Stay current on advancements in fingerprint technology and techniques.
  9. Collaborate with other team members and agencies to share information and improve processes.
  10. Attend trainings and workshops to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  11. Maintain a clean and organized work space to ensure the accuracy and safety of evidence.
  12. Follow all safety protocols and procedures when handling potentially hazardous materials.
  13. Represent the State of Oregon in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
  14. Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards related to fingerprint analysis and evidence handling.
  15. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Fingerprint Technician At State Of Oregon Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Degree.

  • Experience In Fingerprinting Procedures: Candidates Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working With Fingerprinting Equipment And Procedures.

  • Knowledge Of Fingerprint Database Systems: Familiarity With Afis (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) Or Similar Fingerprint Databases Is Essential For This Role.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Fingerprint Technician, One Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Accurately Capture And Process Fingerprints.

  • Strong Communication Skills: This Role Requires Frequent Interaction With Law Enforcement Agencies, Applicants, And Other Stakeholders, Making Strong Communication Skills A Must-Have Qualification.
