Job Description

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the correctional facility, ensuring the safety and security of all inmates and staff.
  2. Provide leadership and guidance to correctional officers and staff, promoting a positive work environment and maintaining high levels of morale.
  3. Enforce rules, regulations, and policies within the facility to maintain order and discipline.
  4. Conduct regular inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with safety and security standards.
  5. Manage and oversee the intake, placement, and classification of inmates.
  6. Develop and implement training programs for correctional officers and staff to ensure their readiness and competence in handling various situations.
  7. Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and departments to coordinate efforts and maintain effective communication.
  8. Investigate and resolve any incidents or issues that may arise within the facility.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and resources to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates.
  10. Monitor and evaluate the performance of correctional officers and staff, providing feedback and implementing corrective action when necessary.
  11. Stay informed of current laws, policies, and procedures related to corrections and make recommendations for updates or improvements.
  12. Uphold the values and mission of the department, promoting professionalism and integrity at all times.
  13. Serve as a role model and mentor for correctional officers and staff, leading by example in ethical decision-making.
  14. Maintain accurate and thorough records and reports related to the operation of the facility.
  15. Respond to emergency situations and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of all individuals involved.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience As A Correctional Sergeant Or Equivalent Position In A Correctional Facility.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Corrections, Or Related Field.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Rules, And Regulations Related To Corrections.

  • Strong Leadership And Supervisory Skills To Effectively Manage A Team Of Correctional Officers.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Interact With Inmates, Staff, And Stakeholders.
