Job Description

If so, the State of Minnesota is seeking an experienced Information Security Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security systems, policies, and procedures to safeguard our data and systems. As a vital member of our team, you will have the opportunity to use your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to defend against cyber threats and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our information.

  1. Develop and implement information security policies and procedures to protect the organization's data and systems.
  2. Conduct regular assessments and audits of security systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.
  3. Monitor and respond to security incidents and threats, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks.
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging threats to ensure the organization's security measures are effective.
  5. Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate security measures into new and existing systems.
  6. Provide guidance and training to employees on information security best practices.
  7. Manage and maintain security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies.
  8. Conduct regular security training and awareness programs for employees.
  9. Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning to ensure the organization is prepared for potential security breaches.
  10. Work with external partners and vendors to ensure the security of shared data and systems.
  11. Investigate and resolve any security breaches or incidents, and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve security processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  13. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure the organization's data protection policies are in line with relevant laws and regulations.
  14. Communicate with stakeholders about security risks and updates, and provide recommendations on how to address them.
  15. Lead security-related projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Computer Science, Information Technology, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 3 Years Of Experience In Information Security, Preferably In A Government Setting.

  • Familiarity With Industry Standards And Regulations Such As Nist, Iso, And Hipaa.

  • Strong Understanding Of Network Security, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, And Other Security Technologies.

  • Professional Certifications Such As Cissp, Cism, Or Giac Are Preferred.
