
Chemistry and Toxicology Unit Supervisor

- Lead and manage a team of professionals in the Chemistry and Toxicology Unit.
- Oversee and coordinate the unit's activities, including chemical and toxicological analyses and investigations.
- Ensure that all analyses and investigations are conducted in accordance with state and federal regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the unit to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members in conducting complex analyses and interpreting results.
- Collaborate with other state agencies and law enforcement to support their investigations and provide expert testimony if needed.
- Stay current on advancements and changes in the fields of chemistry and toxicology, and incorporate them into the unit's practices.
- Manage the unit's budget and resources, including equipment, supplies, and personnel.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages professional growth and development for team members.
- Represent the unit in meetings and presentations to stakeholders, promoting the unit's services and capabilities.
- Ensure the safety and security of all samples and data collected by the unit.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all analyses and investigations.
- Work closely with the unit's director and other supervisors to achieve the unit's goals and objectives.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to support their growth and development.

Bachelor's Degree In Chemistry Or Toxicology: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Either Chemistry Or Toxicology Is Typically Required For This Position In Order To Have A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Techniques Of These Disciplines.
Supervisory Experience: Previous Experience In A Supervisory Role, Preferably In A Laboratory Setting, Is Essential For A Chemistry And Toxicology Unit Supervisor. This Demonstrates The Ability To Lead And Manage A Team, As Well As Oversee Daily Operations And Ensure Quality Control.
Knowledge Of State And Federal Regulations: A Good Understanding Of State And Federal Regulations Related To Chemistry And Toxicology Is Necessary For This Role. This Includes Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Accreditation Standards.
Analytical Skills: As A Chemistry And Toxicology Unit Supervisor, It Is Important To Have Strong Analytical Skills To Review And Interpret Data, Troubleshoot Issues, And Make Informed Decisions. This Includes The Ability To Use Various Laboratory Equipment And Software.
Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Effective Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Crucial For A Chemistry And Toxicology Unit Supervisor.
