Welcome to the State of Michigan's Aviation Manager 14 position, also known as Chief Pilot. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team and oversee all aspects of aviation operations for the state. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of aviation regulations, safety protocols, and exceptional piloting skills.   1. Oversee all aspects of aviation operations for the State of Michigan, including managing a team of pilots and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety protocols.
  2. Develop and implement policies and procedures related to aviation operations to ensure safe and efficient practices.
  3. Serve as the main point of contact for all aviation-related matters and liaise with other departments and agencies as needed.
  4. Monitor and maintain the state's fleet of aircraft, including scheduling and coordinating maintenance and repairs.
  5. Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address any potential hazards or issues.
  6. Stay up-to-date on industry changes and advancements in aviation technology to make recommendations for improvements to the state's aviation program.
  7. Foster a culture of safety and excellence within the aviation team through training, mentorship, and regular communication.
  8. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate flight schedules and ensure timely and efficient transportation for government officials and employees.
  9. Prepare and manage budgets for aviation operations, including tracking expenses and making cost-saving recommendations.
  10. Represent the state at industry events and conferences, and maintain relationships with other aviation professionals and organizations.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience As A Commercial Airline Pilot.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Aviation, Aeronautical Science, Or Related Field.

  • Faa Airline Transport Pilot (Atp) Certificate.

  • Experience In Leading And Managing A Team Of Pilots And Flight Operations Personnel.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Faa Regulations, Safety Standards, And Aviation Industry Best Practices.
