  1. Perform manual labor tasks such as landscaping, mowing, weed-whacking, and other related duties to maintain the state's parks, roadways, and natural areas.
  2. Operate and maintain various equipment and tools, including lawn mowers, trimmers, and hand tools.
  3. Assist in the maintenance and repair of facilities, structures, and equipment.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including picking up litter and debris.
  5. Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to your supervisor.
  6. Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations while performing tasks.
  7. Work collaboratively with team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  8. Provide excellent customer service to park visitors and the general public.
  9. Participate in training and development opportunities to improve job skills.
  10. Follow all state and departmental policies and procedures.
  11. Show dedication to the mission and values of the State of Massachusetts.
  12. Demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic while representing the state.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: As A Summer 2026 Seasonal Laborer I, Candidates Should Possess A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Demonstrate A Basic Level Of Education And Knowledge.

  • Physical Fitness And Stamina: This Position Requires Individuals To Be Physically Fit And Capable Of Performing A Variety Of Manual Labor Tasks, Including Lifting Heavy Objects, Bending, And Standing For Long Periods Of Time.

  • Valid Driver's License: Candidates Must Have A Valid Driver's License To Operate State-Owned Vehicles And Equipment.

  • Previous Experience In Manual Labor: While Not Required, Previous Experience In Manual Labor, Construction, Landscaping, Or A Related Field Is Preferred For This Position.

  • Ability To Work Outdoors In Varying Weather Conditions: As A Summer 2026 Seasonal Laborer I, Candidates Must Be Able To Work Outdoors In Various Weather Conditions, Including Extreme Heat Or Cold, Rain, And Humidity. This May Include Working In Direct Sunlight For Extended Periods Of Time.
