Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged Is Typically Required For A Correctional Technician Position At The State Of Georgia.

  • Previous Experience In A Related Field: Previous Experience In A Correctional Or Law Enforcement Setting, Or Experience Working With Inmates Or Individuals With Criminal Backgrounds, Is Often Preferred For This Role.

  • Basic Knowledge Of Corrections Procedures And Policies: A Strong Understanding Of Corrections Procedures, Policies, And Regulations Is Essential For A Correctional Technician. This Includes Knowledge Of Inmate Classification, Security Protocols, And Disciplinary Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Correctional Technicians Must Have Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Inmates, Staff, And Other Stakeholders. They Must Also Be Able To Handle Difficult Situations With Tact And Professionalism.

  • Physical And Mental Fitness: The Job Of A Correctional Technician Can Be Physically And Mentally Demanding, Requiring Individuals To Be In Good Physical Shape And Possess The Ability To Handle Stressful Situations. Candidates May Be Required To Pass Physical Fitness And Psychological Evaluations As Part Of The Hiring Process.
