
Public Information Officer

- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the State of Florida, representing the agency to the public and media outlets.
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to effectively promote the mission, initiatives, and accomplishments of the State of Florida.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, responding to inquiries, and arranging interviews and press conferences.
- Proactively monitor media coverage and social media activity to identify potential issues and address them promptly and effectively.
- Draft press releases, statements, and other communication materials to accurately and positively reflect the agency's actions and policies.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and timely dissemination of information.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including elected officials, community leaders, and advocacy groups.
- Conduct media training for agency staff, preparing them to effectively communicate with the public and media outlets.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant industry trends and news, as well as state and federal laws and regulations related to public information.
- Prepare and manage crisis communication plans to address potential issues and mitigate negative publicity.
- Serve as the point of contact for public records requests and ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies.
- Monitor and analyze public opinion and provide recommendations for improving public perception of the State of Florida.
- Represent the agency at events and conferences, delivering presentations and engaging with stakeholders to promote the agency's initiatives and accomplishments.
- Act as a liaison between the agency and the public, responding to inquiries and providing information while maintaining confidentiality when necessary.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the agency's leadership team.
Bachelor's Degree In Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Public Relations Or Communications, Preferably In A Government Setting.
Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Information To Diverse Audiences.
Demonstrated Experience In Crisis Communication And Management.
Knowledge Of State Government Processes And Procedures, As Well As Understanding Of Media Relations And Social Media Strategies.
