
FDC-SENIOR CLASSIFICATION OFFICER

- Conduct classification assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of inmates' criminal histories, institutional behavior, and risk factors to determine their appropriate housing and custody levels.
- Develop inmate classification plans: Based on assessment results, develop individualized classification plans for inmates, including recommendations for programming and placement within the facility.
- Monitor inmate behavior: Monitor and document inmate behavior and progress, making adjustments to classification plans as needed.
- Enforce facility policies and procedures: Ensure that all inmates are following facility rules and regulations by conducting regular inspections and addressing any violations.
- Communicate with staff and inmates: Maintain open and effective communication with facility staff and inmates to address concerns and ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Coordinate with other departments: Collaborate with other departments, such as mental health and medical staff, to ensure the needs of inmates are being met and appropriate programming is available.
- Train and supervise staff: Train and supervise lower-level classification officers to ensure they are following proper procedures and protocols.
- Maintain accurate records: Keep detailed and accurate records of inmate classification, behavior, and any incidents that occur within the facility.
- Participate in facility meetings: Attend and actively participate in facility meetings to discuss classification-related issues and provide updates on inmate progress.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices: Continuously educate oneself on current industry trends and best practices in inmate classification to improve the effectiveness of the facility's classification system.
- Adhere to legal and ethical standards: Ensure all classification practices are in compliance with legal and ethical standards, including confidentiality and privacy laws.
- Provide exceptional customer service: Demonstrate a commitment to providing exceptional service to citizens and maintain a positive image of the State of Florida.
Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Corrections, With At Least 2 Years As A Classification Officer.
Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Regulations, And Policies Related To Inmate Classification.
Experience With Risk Assessment Tools And Classification Systems Used In Correctional Facilities.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Inmates, Staff, And Other Stakeholders.
