Job Description

Welcome to the State of Florida's Department of Facilities Development and Control! We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plumber to join our team. As a Plumber with FDC, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our state's facilities, ensuring that they are safe and functional for the public.   1. Conduct routine inspections of plumbing systems in state facilities to ensure they are up to code and functioning properly.
  2. Perform repairs and maintenance on plumbing systems, including but not limited to pipes, fixtures, and appliances.
  3. Install new plumbing systems and equipment as needed.
  4. Troubleshoot and diagnose plumbing issues, and develop and implement effective solutions.
  5. Keep accurate records of all work performed, including maintenance logs and repair reports.
  6. Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate plumbing work and ensure timely completion of projects.
  7. Stay current on industry standards and regulations related to plumbing and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.
  8. Communicate with building occupants and staff to schedule repairs and minimize disruptions to daily operations.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work area, and ensure proper storage and handling of tools and equipment.
  10. Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment for all staff and building occupants.
  11. Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders, including responding to inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  12. Train and mentor junior plumbers to develop their skills and knowledge.
  13. Collaborate with external contractors and vendors as needed for specialized plumbing work.
  14. Participate in regular team meetings and provide input on improving department processes and procedures.
  15. Represent the department and the state in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Ability To Read And Interpret Blueprints, Schematics, And Technical Diagrams.

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience As A Plumber, Preferably In A Correctional Or Institutional Setting.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Plumbing Codes And Regulations.

  • Possession Of A Valid Florida Plumbing License.

  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills And Ability To Work Independently With Minimal Supervision.
