- Maintain a safe and secure environment by enforcing rules and regulations and monitoring inmate behavior.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities, cells, and common areas to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as fights or medical emergencies, and take appropriate action to de-escalate and resolve the situation.
- Collaborate with other staff members, including counselors, medical personnel, and administrators, to develop and implement effective rehabilitation programs for inmates.
- Document incidents, maintain accurate records, and write reports on inmate behavior and any rule violations.
- Conduct investigations into allegations of inmate misconduct and prepare reports for disciplinary actions.
- Monitor and control the movement of inmates within the facility, including during meals, recreation time, and work assignments.
- Serve as a role model for correctional officers, exhibiting strong leadership skills and promoting a positive work culture.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on department policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Uphold the values and mission of the Department of Corrections and represent the agency in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Minimum Of Three Years Of Experience As A Correctional Officer In A State Or Federal Correctional Facility.
Completion Of Supervisory Training And Certification Program Approved By The Florida Department Of Corrections.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage And Direct A Team Of Correctional Officers.
Demonstrated Knowledge Of Correctional Policies, Procedures, And Safety Protocols, As Well As State And Federal Laws Governing Correctional Facilities.
Ability To Handle High-Stress Situations And Make Critical Decisions In A Fast-Paced Environment, While Maintaining Professionalism And Adhering To Protocol.
