  1. Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations to assess students' cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
  2. Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to develop individualized educational plans for students with special needs.
  3. Provide counseling and therapy services to students, both individually and in group settings.
  4. Monitor and track students' progress and make recommendations for interventions and accommodations as needed.
  5. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review student cases and develop strategies for supporting their mental health and well-being.
  6. Serve as a resource for educators and families on mental health issues and strategies for supporting students.
  7. Conduct crisis interventions and provide support to students and families during difficult situations.
  8. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student assessments, interventions, and progress.
  9. Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in the field of school psychology.
  10. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
  11. Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  12. Advocate for the mental health needs of students and collaborate with community resources to provide additional support.
  13. Communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including parents, teachers, administrators, and outside agencies.
  14. Serve as a consultant and provide guidance to educators on creating a positive and inclusive school environment.
  15. Support and promote the overall mission and goals of the school district in relation to student mental health and well-being.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In School Psychology Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In School Psychology Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For A School Psychologist Position In The State Of Connecticut. This Degree Should Be From An Accredited Institution And Should Include Coursework In Child Development, Learning Theories, And Psychological Assessment.

  • State Licensure Or Certification: School Psychologists In Connecticut Are Required To Hold A Valid State License Or Certification. This May Include The Connecticut State Department Of Education's School Psychologist Certification Or A License From The State Board Of Examiners Of Psychologists.

  • Experience In School Settings: Previous Experience Working As A School Psychologist In A School Setting Is Highly Desirable For This Position. Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Educational System And Be Familiar With The Challenges And Needs Of Students In A School Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Special Education Laws And Regulations: School Psychologists In Connecticut Work Closely With Students Who Have Special Needs And Disabilities. Therefore, A Strong Understanding Of State And Federal Special Education Laws And Regulations Is Essential For This Role.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: School Psychologists Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Students, Parents, And School Staff. They Should Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Build Rapport And Work Collaboratively With Others. Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills Are Also Important For Writing Reports And Presenting Assessment Findings.
