Job Description

Welcome to the State of Connecticut library system! We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Library Assistant. As a Library Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service and support to our patrons. We are looking for someone who is passionate about books, technology, and public service. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.   1. Greet and welcome patrons to the library, providing excellent customer service at all times.
  2. Assist patrons in locating books, using the library's catalog system, and answering reference questions.
  3. Process new library memberships and update patron information in the library's database.
  4. Maintain a neat and organized library space by shelving and organizing books and materials.
  5. Assist with technology-related tasks such as setting up computers and troubleshooting technical issues for patrons.
  6. Collaborate with other library staff to plan and implement library programs and events.
  7. Keep up-to-date with library policies and procedures to provide accurate information to patrons.
  8. Handle financial transactions, such as collecting fines and fees, and maintaining accurate records.
  9. Communicate effectively with patrons, colleagues, and supervisors to ensure smooth operation of the library.
  10. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and actively participate in training sessions.
  11. Provide support to librarians and other staff members as needed.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by library management.

Job Qualifications
