  1. Oversee and manage a team of custodians to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of state buildings.
  2. Train and mentor custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety protocols, and building maintenance procedures.
  3. Create and implement cleaning schedules and protocols to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization.
  4. Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and submit requests for additional supplies as needed.
  5. Conduct regular inspections of state buildings to identify areas in need of cleaning or repairs.
  6. Respond to and address any building maintenance emergencies in a timely and efficient manner.
  7. Collaborate with building managers and other team members to address and resolve any cleaning or maintenance concerns.
  8. Maintain a positive and professional attitude while leading and working alongside custodial team members.
  9. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  10. Keep accurate records of cleaning tasks, maintenance work, and supply usage for reporting purposes.
  11. Continuously seek ways to improve and streamline custodial processes for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
  12. Represent the state of Connecticut in a positive manner and uphold the values of hard work, dedication, and excellence.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: The Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged To Qualify For The Lead Custodian Job At State Of Connecticut.

  • Prior Custodial Experience: A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Prior Experience In A Custodial Or Janitorial Role Is Required For The Lead Custodian Position. This Includes Knowledge Of Cleaning Procedures, Equipment, And Supplies.

  • Supervisory Experience: The Lead Custodian Will Be Responsible For Overseeing And Training A Team Of Custodial Staff. Therefore, Prior Experience In A Supervisory Or Leadership Role Is Essential.

  • Knowledge Of Safety And Sanitation Protocols: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety And Sanitation Protocols To Ensure A Clean And Safe Environment For All Occupants Of The Facilities.

  • Physical Ability: The Lead Custodian Job May Involve Heavy Lifting, Standing For Long Periods, And Other Physically Demanding Tasks. Therefore, The Candidate Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Perform These Duties Efficiently.
