  1. Manage and oversee the financial operations of the State of California, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and integrity of all financial records.

  3. Monitor and analyze financial data to identify and address any discrepancies or potential issues.
  4. Prepare financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses, to aid in decision-making and budget planning.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to provide financial guidance and support for various projects and initiatives.
  6. Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing training and guidance to ensure their professional growth and development.
  7. Manage and maintain relationships with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and assisting with audit processes.
  8. Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations, and make recommendations for process improvements.
  9. Ensure timely and accurate completion of financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  10. Serve as a liaison between the state government and external stakeholders, such as vendors, contractors, and other agencies, to resolve any financial issues.
  11. Participate in the development and implementation of financial system upgrades and enhancements.
  12. Represent the state government in financial meetings and conferences, communicating complex financial information in an understandable manner.
  13. Use strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse team and maintain positive relationships.
  14. Uphold the highest ethical standards and act with integrity in all financial matters.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Accounting, Finance, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 5 Years Of Experience In A Senior Accounting Role, Preferably In A Government Or Public Sector Setting.

  • Extensive Knowledge Of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (Gaap) And Government Accounting Standards.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With The Ability To Identify And Resolve Complex Accounting Issues.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Other Departments And Stakeholders.
