  1. Develop and implement therapeutic recreational programs for incarcerated individuals in accordance with their individual needs and treatment goals.
  2. Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine appropriate recreational interventions and track progress.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate recreational therapy into overall treatment plans and goals.
  4. Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals participating in recreational activities by following all safety protocols and procedures.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individuals' progress and participation in recreational therapy programs.
  6. Utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques, such as art therapy, music therapy, and physical activity, to promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  7. Engage with incarcerated individuals to build rapport, trust, and promote positive behavioral changes.
  8. Adapt recreational activities to meet the diverse needs and abilities of the incarcerated population.
  9. Stay informed on current research and best practices in recreational therapy to continually improve services.
  10. Provide guidance and support to recreation staff and volunteers to ensure the effective delivery of recreational therapy services.
  11. Advocate for the importance of recreational therapy in promoting rehabilitation and reducing recidivism.
  12. Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor in all interactions and adhere to all state and federal regulations and policies.
  13. Collaborate with community organizations and resources to expand recreational opportunities and promote community reintegration for incarcerated individuals.
  14. Attend meetings, trainings, and conferences to stay current on industry developments and improve skills and knowledge.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of the organization and contribute to a positive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Therapy Or A Related Field From An Accredited University.

  • Certification As A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (Ctrs) Through The National Council For Therapeutic Recreation Certification (Nctrc).

  • Experience Working With Incarcerated Individuals And/Or In A Correctional Facility Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Therapeutic Recreation Interventions And Programs For Individuals With Diverse Needs And Abilities.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, As Well As The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Interdisciplinary Teams And Communicate Effectively With Incarcerated Individuals.
