Your role will be crucial in helping individuals improve their physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities through engaging and meaningful activities.To be successful in this role, you must have a bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related field and be licensed by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification.   1. Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with disabilities or illnesses in state facilities.
  2. Assess the needs and abilities of individuals and create individualized treatment plans.
  3. Utilize recreational activities and techniques to improve physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed client records and progress reports.
  6. Plan and organize recreational events and outings for clients.
  7. Provide support and guidance to clients during recreational activities.
  8. Monitor and adjust treatment plans as needed based on client progress.
  9. Stay up-to-date on current trends and developments in the field of Recreation Therapy.
  10. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in providing services to clients.
  11. Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients during recreational activities.
  12. Educate and train staff and family members on the importance and benefits of therapeutic recreation.
  13. Attend and participate in professional development opportunities and meetings.
  14. Comply with all state and facility regulations and policies.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve upon programs and services to ensure the highest level of quality for clients.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification As A Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (Ctrs) From The National Council For Therapeutic Recreation Certification (Nctrc).

  • Bachelor's Degree In Recreation Therapy Or A Related Field From An Accredited University.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Providing Recreation Therapy Services To Individuals With Disabilities Or Special Needs.

  • Knowledge Of Federal And State Laws And Regulations Related To Recreation Therapy, Including Hipaa And Ada.

  • Excellent Communication, Interpersonal, And Organizational Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Clients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
