  1. Provide comprehensive psychological evaluations and assessments to inmates to determine their mental health needs and develop treatment plans.
  2. Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for inmates to address various mental health concerns and promote positive coping skills.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans for inmates with complex mental health needs.
  4. Monitor and document inmate progress and treatment outcomes in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  5. Utilize evidence-based practices to provide high-quality and culturally sensitive mental health services to inmates.
  6. Educate and support inmates in developing healthy coping skills and strategies to manage their mental health.
  7. Provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention services as needed.
  8. Conduct in-service trainings and workshops for correctional staff on mental health topics.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  10. Adhere to professional and ethical standards in all aspects of job duties.
  11. Foster a therapeutic and supportive environment for inmates to promote their overall well-being and successful reintegration into society.
  12. Stay informed on current research and developments in the field of clinical psychology and utilize this knowledge to enhance treatment services.
  13. Participate in regular staff meetings, trainings, and other professional development activities.
  14. Collaborate with community resources and stakeholders to ensure continuity of care for inmates upon release.
  15. Adhere to all safety and security protocols within the correctional facility.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid California Psychologist License: The First And Most Important Qualification For A Psychologist-Clinical Position At Crc Is A Valid California Psychologist License. This License Is Required To Practice As A Psychologist In The State Of California And Ensures That The Individual Has Met The Necessary Education, Training, And Ethical Standards To Provide Clinical Services.

  • Doctoral Degree In Psychology: A Psychologist-Clinical At Crc Must Have A Doctoral Degree In Psychology From An Accredited Institution. This Typically Includes A Ph.d. Or Psy.d. In Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Or A Related Field. This Level Of Education Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Assess, Diagnose, And Treat Individuals With Mental Health Disorders.

  • Experience In Correctional Setting: At Crc, The Psychologist-Clinical Will Be Working In A Correctional Facility With Incarcerated Individuals. Therefore, Experience Working In A Correctional Setting Is A Highly Desirable Qualification. This Experience Will Demonstrate The Individual's Ability To Navigate The Unique Challenges And Dynamics Of Working With A Population In A Secure And Controlled Environment.

  • Knowledge Of Evidence-Based Practices: The State Of California Values Evidence-Based Practices In The Field Of Psychology, And Crc Is No Exception. A Qualified Psychologist-Clinical Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Evidence-Based Interventions And Treatment Approaches For Various Mental Health Disorders. This Knowledge Will Be Essential In Providing Effective And Ethical Care To The Incarcerated Population At Crc.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Working In A Correctional Facility Requires Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. The Psychologist-Clinical Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Individuals From Diverse Backgrounds And Establish Rapport With Clients Who May Have A History Of Trauma Or Mistrust. The Ability To Collaborate With Other Professionals And Communicate Effectively With Custody Staff Is Also Crucial In This Role.
