Job Description

If so, the State of California is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Technician to join our team at Ironwood State Prison (ISP). As a Psychiatric Technician (Safety), you will play a crucial role in providing mental health services to incarcerated individuals at ISP.   1. Conduct mental health assessments and evaluations of incarcerated individuals to determine appropriate treatment plans.
  2. Administer and monitor medication for individuals with mental health disorders.
  3. Provide individual and group therapy sessions to address mental health concerns and promote coping strategies.
  4. Collaborate with other mental health professionals and correctional staff to ensure appropriate treatment and safety protocols are in place.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient progress and treatment plans.
  6. Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  7. Educate and support correctional staff on mental health issues and appropriate responses to individuals with mental health disorders.
  8. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment plans.
  9. Adhere to ethical and legal standards in the provision of mental health services.
  10. Continuously update knowledge and skills through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  11. Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors at all times.
  12. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and agency policies.
  13. Demonstrate empathy, patience, and compassion in all interactions with patients.
  14. Serve as a positive role model and advocate for individuals with mental health disorders.
  15. Contribute to the overall mission of providing quality mental health care within the correctional system.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Psychology, Social Work, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Mental Health Setting, Preferably In A Correctional Facility.

  • Current Certification As A Psychiatric Technician From The California Board Of Vocational Nursing And Psychiatric Technicians.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Mental Health Disorders, Treatment Modalities, And Crisis Intervention Techniques.

  • Ability To Maintain A Safe And Secure Environment For Both Staff And Patients, Including Knowledge Of Safety Protocols And Procedures.
