  1. Oversee and manage all aspects of payroll and benefits administration for thousands of employees at the State of California.
  2. Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, including calculating and inputting employee hours, deductions, and adjustments.
  3. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws, as well as internal policies and procedures, related to payroll and benefits.
  4. Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll and benefits matters, providing guidance and support to HR staff and employees.
  5. Develop and implement efficient processes and procedures to streamline payroll and benefits administration.
  6. Continuously monitor and review payroll data for accuracy and make necessary corrections or adjustments.
  7. Handle any issues or inquiries related to payroll and benefits, resolving them in a timely and professional manner.
  8. Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting of payroll and benefits data.
  9. Stay updated on changes in payroll and benefits regulations and make necessary updates to policies and procedures.
  10. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  11. Train and develop payroll and benefits staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of employee information and records.
  13. Communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders, providing exceptional customer service.
  14. Represent the State of California in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
  15. Contribute to the overall success and growth of the organization through your expertise and dedication to excellence.
