  1. Conduct scientific research and analysis to assess and monitor the state's natural resources and their impact on the environment.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to protect and preserve the state's natural resources and mitigate environmental threats.
  3. Collaborate with other environmental experts and agencies to address complex environmental issues and develop solutions.
  4. Collect and analyze data, prepare reports, and make recommendations to inform policy and decision-making processes.
  5. Stay updated on current environmental regulations, policies, and best practices to ensure compliance and promote continuous improvement.
  6. Conduct field assessments and investigations to identify potential environmental hazards and risks.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and industry representatives.
  8. Provide expert advice and guidance to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of environmental programs and initiatives.
  9. Participate in the development of environmental impact assessments and assist in the review and approval of development projects.
  10. Communicate complex scientific information to non-technical audiences through presentations, reports, and other mediums.
  11. Mentor and train junior staff, as well as provide technical support and guidance to colleagues.
  12. Act as a liaison between the department and external agencies, organizations, and the public on environmental matters.
  13. Represent the department in meetings, conferences, and public hearings related to environmental issues.
  14. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing job duties.
  15. Uphold the department's mission and values of protecting and conserving the environment for the benefit of current and future generations.

Job Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree In Environmental Science Or Related Field, Such As Biology, Chemistry, Or Geology.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience In Conducting Environmental Research And Analysis, Preferably In A Government Or Regulatory Agency Setting.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Environmental Laws And Regulations, Including The California Environmental Quality Act (Ceqa) And The Clean Air Act.

  • Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate Complex Scientific Information To A Variety Of Audiences.

  • Experience In Conducting Field Work And Using A Variety Of Scientific Equipment And Instruments To Collect And Analyze Environmental Samples.
